Subject: Motion Carries
Colleagues:
The electronic voting has reached the majority stage from each tier. I am unsure of how to proceed at this point, but my sense would be that the USGFC Chair/President would forward the resolution to Chancellor Davis and the USG Board of Regents. I imagine we should get some kind of BOR approval before sending to the State Assembly. Thanks to all who participated. If there is something further that I can contribute, please advise.
Jeff

The resolution as it currently stands:
The University System of Georgia Faculty Council, (USGFC) representing faculty from the member institutions of the University System of Georgia, agrees with USG Chancellor Davis that the additional proposed FY2011 cuts to the University system would ?severely compromise our ability to provide the educated populace that is necessary for the continued success of the state of Georgia.? Recognizing the difficult decisions that must be made, the Faculty Council of the University System of Georgia will continue to support the efforts of our State legislature and our University System of Georgia administrators to construct an equitable budget for FY2011.
Note also the suggestion that writing our respective state representatives as private citizens and urging our institutional faculty to do likewise is probably the most effective thing that could be done at this point.
