Subject: USGFC: Save the date: Friday Nov 13, 2009
At the most recent meeting of the USGFC advocates in March of 2009, as
the advocate from Georgia College & State University I offered to
explore the feasibility of GCSU hosting the next meeting of this group.
Those present requested that if that was to be done, their preference
was to meet in Macon rather than Milledgeville for travel convenience.
I offer the following SAVE THE DATE information about the upcoming
meeting.
WHO: Advocates for USG Faculty Council
WHEN: FRIDAY NOVEMBER 13, 2009
TIME: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
TENTATIVE AGENDA ITEMS: Selected topics from those listed below
and suggestions received from you
Note: To suggest another item for the tentative agenda,
please reply to this email message by October 10, 2009. Feel free to
reply to all if you wish the entire list membership to see your
suggested agenda items.
Two-year Merger
Faculty Compensation (Salary, Benefits such as Health
Care, Retirement, Furloughs)
Mini-Core (the "core" shared between Tech Schools and USG
schools)
USG Faculty Council Bylaws (update on endorsement status by
USG institutions and "official recognition" by the USG/BoR)
Another source of tentative agenda items might be formal statements
that seek endorsement by the advocates. In this case, perhaps it would
be most efficient that a statement be prepared in advance of the meeting
and circulated for consideration by potential attendees. This list
might be used to vet such a statement and allow the benefit of the
combined experience and wisdom of the list membership to provide
suggestions on the draft. Clearly, any faculty member can offer such a
statement for feedback.
WHERE: Rooms 533 and 534 of the Thomas Jefferson
Building
(Graduate & Professional Learning Center) 433 Cherry Street, Macon GA
REGISTRATION FEE: $25.00 (this fee will cover the cost of
lunch and registration administration)
A TENTATIVE AGENDA and REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR THIS MEETING WILL BE
SENT UNDER SEPARATE COVER CLOSER TO THE MEETING DATE.
