Dear USB&GCC,
As I was reading this summary document on Margaret Wheatley's work, I thought it may be worthwhile to revisit one of my favorite articles on leadership at http://www.cba.nau.edu/facstaff/pielstick-d/Leadership/Beyond%20Vision.html. I think this article by C. Dean Pielstick may give us some insight into exploring the following questions at our meeting tomorrow, 11-16-05:
- What are the characteristics, if any, of an organization or institution with a shared purpose and vision?
- What implications, if any, do the characteristics of the shared purpose and vision dimension have on the dimensions of leadership, resources, teaching/learning, communication, power, and rewards?
- Is there a systemic dependent or interdependent relationship within and among the dimensions of shared purpose and vision, leadership, resources, teaching/learning, communication, power, and rewards? If so, what are the elements?
- What implications, if any, do the dimensions of shared purpose and vision, leadership, resources, teaching/learning, communication, power, and rewards have for governance within the historical context, culture, and mission of GC&SU?
I'm looking forward to our discussion tomorrow.
My Best!
Cheryl
