Subject: Submission of 2011-12 FAPC Annual Report

Members of the 2011-2012 Executive Committee,

 On behalf of the 2011-2012 Faculty Affairs Policy Committee (FAPC), I am filing the committee annual report with the 2011-2012 Executive Committee as called for in Article IV, Section 2 of the University Senate Bylaws (copied below). A due date of 27 April 2012 was identified for this annual report at the 10 Mar 2012 joint meeting of the Executive Committee with Standing Committee (minutes excerpt below).

This annual report was drafted by me at the request of the committee (as documented in the 2 Mar 2012 FAPC minutes copied below), and circulated for committee review with the agenda of 6 Apr 2012 FAPC meeting. At the 6 Apr 2012 FAPC meeting, feedback on this first draft was sought and obtained. In addition, the committee provided feedback to inform the committee sections of the report. A second draft of the report was circulated to FAPC members for review on 19 April 2012 and the final draft is informed by the committee feedback received from that second circulation.

If this email notification is insufficient to be in compliance with the submission in an appropriate format to the Executive Committee aspect of filing this annual report for the 2011-2012 academic year, please educate me on the filing procedure.

IV.Section 2. Reports. The committees listed in V.Section2.A.1 shall constitute the standing committees of the University Senate. Each standing committee and the Executive Committee shall present a comprehensive, written, annual report in an appropriate format to the Executive Committee. This report shall include a summary of the major items considered by the committee during the academic year and the disposition of each. The Executive Committee shall set a due date and the format of these reports in consultation with the standing committee chairs and these reports shall be posted with the minutes of the last University Senate meeting of the academic year.

A motion was made and seconded to adopt this same process for 2011-2012, specifically to have Craig prepare a draft of the committee annual report for committee review at its 06 April 2012 meeting; noting that this draft shall defer the following sections to the committee for completion: committee reflections, committee recommendations, and recommended items for consideration at the governance retreat.
