Subject: FAPC: FYI proposed SOS syllabus language for review
Greetings 2010-2011 FAPC members,
Mike Rose and I received from Provost Jordan a draft of proposed language regarding Student Opinion Surveys (Participate Rates) for inclusion on all course syllabi. This draft is a follow-up to the following committee motion.
FAPC Motion 2 (3 Dec 2010): To recommend to the Provost that standard language be developed that will appear on all course syllabi to inform and encourage students to participate in completing Student Opinion Surveys.
The committee is being asked to review this language and provide feedback. I will place consideration of this matter on the tentative agenda of the 4 Mar 2011 FAPC meeting.

Subject: proposed statement on SOS for inclusion on syllabi
Mike, Tom Ormond working with two faculty created the following statement. I?d like for FAPC to review the statement and provide feedback. The idea is that the final statement will be added to the syllabus to reinforce in students the importance of completing the SOS. Please add to the next FAPC agenda, if possible.
Given the "virtual" sophistication of Georgia College students, course evaluation in the form of the student opinion survey is being delivered through an online process. Your constructive assessment of this course plays an indispensable role in shaping quality education at Georgia College. All answers are completely confidential and your name is not stored with your answers in any way. In addition, instructors will not see any results of the evaluation until after final grades are submitted to the University. The online evaluation is available to students two weeks prior to the last week of class.
