ACADEMIC GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE (AGC)

• MOTION 0506.AG.001.O (Deactivate M.A. Public Affairs)  SENATE ACTION: APPROVED (09-26-05)
  • To deactivate the Masters of Arts, major in Public Affairs
• MOTION 0506.AG.002.P (Policy change for US/GA History Exams)  SENATE ACTION: APPROVED (10-31-05)
  • To adopt the following as university academic policy:

    •  A student will be allowed at most four attempts to pass the U.S. history examination and at most four attempts to pass the Georgia history examination. Should a student fail to pass either exam on the fourth attempt, the student shall be required to pass HIST 2111 or HIST 2112 to satisfy the special legislative requirement.

    • A student may take neither the US History Exam nor the Georgia History Exam during a semester in which the student is registered for at least one of HIST 2111 and HIST 2112.

  •  To add MATH 1260 Survey of Calculus as an option to fulfill the Mathematics requirement in Area D of the Core.
• MOTION 0506.AG.004.P (New IRB Policy)  SENATE ACTION: APPROVED as amended (10-31-05)
  • To adopt the attached document entitled "Georgia College & State University Policy on Class-Related Assignments Involving Human Subjects" as University Policy.
• MOTION 0506.AG.005.O (Deactivate Ed. S. in Health and Phys Ed.)  SENATE ACTION: APPROVED (11-28-05)
  • To deactivate the Ed. S. in Health and Physical Recreation effective January 2006.
• MOTION 0506.AG.006.O (Deactivate Ed. S. in Special Education)  SENATE ACTION: APPROVED (01-30-06)
  • To send to the Board of Regents the Letter of Intent for a program in Special Education for an Education Specialist Degree with a Major in Special Education. (Note: This is not approval of the degree program but approval to send the letter of intent that requests permission from the Board of Regents to submit a proposal to add an Education Specialist Degree with a Major in Special Education as a degree program at GC&SU.)
• MOTION 0506.AG.007.O (Revised General Education Curriculum)  SENATE ACTION: On 02-27-06, POSTPONED TO 03-27-06; APPROVED 03-27-06
  • To approve the Proposal for a Revised General Education Curriculum.  This means it would go to the BOR for approval to implement a pilot.
• MOTION 0506.AG.008.P (Good Academic Standing)  SENATE ACTION: APPROVED (02-27-06)
  • To amend the catalog language on Academic Standing as detailed in the supporting document entitled "Proposal to Change Academic Standing: Approved by Academic Governance: February 3, 2006".

  • To adopt the attached document entitled "Georgia College & State University Professional Leave Proposal January 25, REVISED" as University Policy.
• MOTION 0506.AG.010.O (Deactivate M.A.  in Accounting)  SENATE ACTION: Approved ( 03-27-06 Meeting in Adjournment on 04-05-06)
  • To deactivate the Master of Accountancy (MAac) program.
• MOTION 0506.AG.011.P (Student Academic Rights and Responsibilities)  SENATE ACTION: Approved (  03-27-06 Meeting in Adjournment on 04-05-06)
  • To adopt the “Student Academic Bill of Rights and Responsibilities” for all students at GCSU.
• MOTION 0506.AG.012.O (Add MATH courses to Areas A and D) SENATE ACTION: APPROVED (04-24-06)
  • To add a new course, MATH 1115 Integrated Calculus IA, to satisfy the mathematics requirement in Core Area A or Area D and to add a new course, MATH 1116 Integrated Calculus IB, to satisfy the mathematics requirement in Core Area D.

• MOTION 0506.CN.001.O (US Committee Replacement)  SENATE ACTION: APPROVED (09-26-05)
  • To make the following change to the membership of the Student Affairs Committee effective 9-26-05: Sara Faircloth to replace Amy Davis.
• MOTION 0506.CN.002.O (US Committee Replacement)  SENATE ACTION: APPROVED (10-31-05)
  • To make the following change to the membership of the Budget & Planning Committee effective 11-1-05: Rodger Holland to replace Jan Flynn.  Professor Flynn remains on the committee in an elected senator position, having previously replaced Nicholas Beadles as a senator.
• MOTION 0506.CN.003.O (Nominees for 0607 US Committees) SENATE ACTION: APPROVED (04-26-06)
  • To adopt the committee membership for the 2006-2007 University Senate Committees as detailed in the supporting document.

• MOTION 0405.EC.004.B (Bylaws Changes)   SENATE ACTIONS: TABLED (04-27-05); APPROVED (08-29-05)

  • To recommend that the supporting document entitled "University Senate Bylaws, Revisions proposed by the Statutes and Bylaws Team (April 6, 2005) DRAFT" replace the existing University Senate Bylaws

• MOTION 0506.EC.001.R (Resolution Dr. Terry Wells)  SENATE ACTION:  APPROVED (11-28-05)

  • To endorse the statement in the supporting document as the body of a resolution honoring the memory of Dr. Terry Wells.

• MOTION 0506.EC.002.B (Bylaws Change - Standing Committee Chair Elections)  SENATE ACTION:  TABLED (01-30-06) APPROVED (02-27-06)

  • To amend the current University Senate Bylaws as detailed in the supporting document entitled "Bylaws Modification (12-08-05) Election of Standing Committee Chairs".

• MOTION 0506.EC.003.B (Bylaws Revisions USBGCC)  SENATE ACTION: Information Item (04-24-06),  POSTPONED to 08-28-06 meeting (04-26-06) as part of the standard bylaws revision process.

  • To recommend that the supporting document entitled "University Senate Bylaws, Revisions proposed by the USBGCC (April 5, 2006) FINAL DRAFT" replace the existing University Senate Bylaws.
