Discussed and refined ECUS operating procedures (including ECUS meeting schedule and the creation of an ECUS “action tracking” system)
Assigned Point Persons to take charge of recurring tasks
Started a conversation from feedback from the 12 Aug. Governance Retreat specifically on the Nature of University Senate Meetings with theme of ECUS discussion as “Streamline, Streamline, Streamline”. This conversation was continued at Standing Committee Officer Orientation (SCOO) and will likely continue with Standing Committee Chairs at Sept. joint meeting with ECUS (Congratulations GRPC (Governance Retreat Planning Committee) for a fine retreat!)
Held Standing Committee Officer Orientation (SCOO) on 21 Aug (Ken McGill did an admirable job! Lunch was appreciated!)
Appointed University Senate Parliamentarian for 2009-2010 - David Muschell (Thank you, David!)
Transitioned from Administrative Committee Registry to University-wide Committee Registry (Thank you, Deborah!)
Updating the Online Motion Database continues with recoding by Jay Lancaster. This project should be ready for implementation by early Oct. (WER (Web Enabled Resources) rocks!)
Added Board of Regents' Policy language for Tenure at Appointment to tenure section of GCSU Academic Affairs Handbook (This language will be sent to Faculty Affairs Policy Committee (FAPC) as an information item. Also led to inquiries as to process for updating and revising the GCSU Academic Affairs Handbook)
Confirmed GCSU will host the fall meeting of the University System of Georgia Faculty Council advocates at the Macon Center for Graduate & Professional Learning in early Nov. 2009
Received communication from the chair of the Theatre Department, Karen Berman, that Beate Czogalla was stepping down from the University Senate and that the department elected Amy Pinney to replace her. At the September 2009 University Senate meeting, a motion for officially naming a replacement for Beate Czogalla to the Academic Policy Committee (Amy Pinney) from the SubCommittee on Nominations is likely to be forthcoming.
