Faculty Affairs Policy Committee (FAPC) Report

• Excellence in Research and Publications and the Artistic Endeavors Award Guidelines - Committee reviewed and discussed criteria for both awards.  Concerns were raised over criteria changes in award procedures and how those changes were made including the self nomination and eligibility of previous winner on research award, the differences between the award criteria was also discussed.  A work group was formed to look at the different criteria for faculty awards and attempt to have better consistency between the awards.

• Process for Appealing Faculty Evaluations – Dr. Gormly presented the DRAFT update of 3.07.03.5 Appeal of Faculty Evaluations.  Committee discussed policy and suggested changes related to process.  Dr. Gormly agreed to make changes and resubmit an updated policy based on committee feedback prior to the next meeting.

• Pre-tenure review benchmark research – After looking at the university’s pre tenure process and discussing the formative vs. summative evaluation, the committee agreed that no changes were needed at this time.
