University Services Committee Report
Given to the University Senate 02-26-07
Submitted by Dr. Ken McGill
We voted on only one motion during the Feb 2 meeting. After a discussion of the Library Budget Collections Support the motion passed unanimously. Some of the concerns were that the new fee should not continue forever, and that there should be a goal to fund the library from the university budget generated by tuition.
Chad McDonald had communicated some concerns about motion number 0607.US.001.P (Faculty and Staff Equipment and Software Policy). His concerns involved the possibility of conflict with BOR policy. The USC felt the motion had been properly vetted and did not see the need to reevaluate the proposed policy.
We were not able to have motions number 0607.US.001.P, 0607.US.005.P, 0607.US.002.P, and 0607.US.003.P on the agenda for the January senate meeting. There was a discussion about the senate calendar and that the short turn around time last month.
A draft of Georgia College & State University Conflict of Interest Policy was presented to the senate through ECUS. The policy was drafted by an ad hoc committee appointed by VPAA to make recommendations regarding actions for compliance with federal and state guidelines. To give the committee time to study the proposed policy, discussions were postponed until the Feb 23 meeting of USC.
