Members of the 2005-2006 Executive Committee have met
twice this semester. We have taken action in the following areas:
- Appointed Dr. Ken Farr as parliamentarian of
University Senate for 2005-2006
- Appointed Ms. Nancy Davis Bray as archivist of the
Senate for 2005-2006.
- Appointed Dr. Craig Turner as University Senate
webmaster for 2005-2006.
- Drafted the ECUS Operating Procedures for 2005-2006
- Agreed to request AAUP to perform a survey to
determine perceptions of the University Community on governance and the
effectiveness of the University Senate.
- Sent information to standing committee members from
the US Bylaws regarding committee work and organizational meetings.
- Clarified the bylaws on election procedures for
standing committee officers
- Also, faculty representatives from the Executive
Committee will serve as liaisons to your committees throughout the year.
Please feel free to contact them if you need the Executive Committee to
consider something on your behalf or if you have questions.

- Last Friday (August 26, 2005) these liaisons shared
information on officer duties, senate business flow, priority meeting
calendar, and University Senate Bylaws relevant to standing committees and
held elections at the organizational meetings of the respective standing
committee.
- Routed the Faculty Professional Leave Policy DRAFT
created by the Professional Leave Administrative Committee to the Academic
Governance Committee for review.
- Routed two issues for study to the Council of Deans:
- Non-graduate participation in commencement
- Qualifications for deans and presidents list
Finally, on behalf of the Executive Committee, I
recommend that: MOTION 0405.EC.004.B be taken from the table and approved. The
text of this motion is "To recommend that the supporting document entitled
"University Senate Bylaws, Revisions proposed by the Statutes and Bylaws Team
(April 6, 2005) DRAFT" replace the existing University Senate Bylaws".
