Subject: University Senate 2017-2018 Committee Preferences Survey

Dear Elected Faculty Senators,

The Subcommittee on Nominations is in the process of forming the committees for the 2017-18 University Senate and would like your input about your preferred committee service.

Please follow this link to complete a very brief survey to indicate your committee preferences:

https://gcsu.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_5nIw1OcXa5SLXdH             Text of Survey

The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, March 17, 2017.

While the Subcommittee on Nominations will try to accommodate your top preference, this is not always possible. The final assignments will depend on committee composition bylaw requirements and representation from the colleges.

For those of you who are new to the University Senate, the following provides an overview of the charge of each of the committees.

ACADEMIC POLICY COMMITTEE (APC) – concerned with policy relating to undergraduate and graduate education matters that have broad impact or implication to the university as a whole.

CURRICULUM AND ASSESSMENT POLICY COMMITTEE (CAPC) – concerned with policy relating to curriculum and academic assessment.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE of the University Senate (ECUS) – the faculty advisory body to the University President and serves as the Steering Committee of the University Senate.

FACULTY AFFAIRS POLICY COMMITTEE (FAPC) – concerned with policy relating to faculty welfare (e.g. authorities, responsibilities, rights, recognitions, privileges, and opportunities).

RESOURCES, PLANNING, AND INSTITUTIONAL POLICY COMMITTEE (RPIPC) – concerned with policy relating to non-instructional personnel (including administrative personnel) and institutional budget and planning functions.

STUDENT AFFAIRS POLICY COMMITTEE (SAPC) – concerned with policy relating to the general social, cultural, and practical welfare of students.

SUBCOMMITTEE on the CORE CURRICULUM (SoCC) – a permanent subcommittee of CAPC which focuses on issues relating to the Core Curriculum.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Nicole
