Dear Elected Faculty Senators,

The Subcommittee on Nominations is in the process of forming the committees for the 2014-15 University Senate and would like your input about your preferred committee service.

We are also seeking nominations for the positions of Presiding Officer Elect and Secretary of the University Senate.

Please follow this link to complete a very brief survey to indicate your preferences:  https://gcsu.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_e3AygtMvN9kA6X3

For those of you who are new to the University Senate, the following provides an overview of the charge of each of the committees.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE of the University Senate (ECUS) – the faculty advisory body to the University President and serves as the Steering Committee of the University Senate.

ACADEMIC POLICY COMMITTEE (APC) – concerned with policy relating to undergraduate and graduate education matters that have broad impact or implication to the university as a whole.

CURRICULUM AND ASSESSMENT POLICY COMMITTEE (CAPC) – concerned with policy relating to curriculum and academic assessment.

SUBCOMMITTEE on the CORE CURRICULUM (SoCC) – a permanent subcommittee of CAPC which focusses on issues relating to the Core Curriculum.

FACULTY AFFAIRS POLICY COMMITTEE (FAPC) – concerned with policy relating to faculty welfare (e.g. authorities, responsibilities, rights, recognitions, privileges, and opportunities).

RESOURCES, PLANNING, AND INSTITUTIONAL POLICY COMMITTEE (RPIPC) – concerned with policy relating to non-instructional personnel (including administrative personnel) and institutional budget and planning functions.

STUDENT AFFAIRS POLICY COMMITTEE (SAPC) – concerned with policy relating to the general social, cultural, and practical welfare of students.

For more information on the committees, please visit [senate.gcsu.edu]senate.gcsu.edu

Committees of the University Senate meet on Friday afternoons, three times each semester. The only exception is the Subcommittee on the Core Curriculum. In the past, this subcommittee has met weekly at a time convenient to all members. The actual meeting frequency and days/times will be determined by the newly formed subcommittee.
