Library 14 1. The Standard Quota (SQ) for a division is the number of faculty in the division divided by the standard divisor. Note: GD means General Division 15 14 4.24% 1.2303 1.2523 1 2 1.4142 1 1 2 7.00 2
SoB 47 2. The Lower Quota (LQ) for a division is the integer part of the Standard Quota; i.e. round the standard quota down.   46 47 14.24% 4.1303 4.2042 4 5 4.4721 4 4 5 9.40 5
SoE 46 3. The Upper Quota (UQ) for a division is the smallest integer exceeding the standard quota, ie. round the standard quota up   44 46 13.94% 4.0424 4.1147 4 5 4.4721 4 4 5 9.20 5
SoHS 38 4. The number of University Senators apportioned to each division must be either its lower quota or its upper quota.   38 38 11.52% 3.3394 3.3991 3 4 3.4641 3 3 4 9.50 4
SoLAS 185 5. If the standard quota exceeds the geometric mean (GM) of the lower quota and upper quota, then apportion UQ, else apportion LQ. Note: GM(A,B) is sqrt(A*B) 172 185 56.06% 16.2576 16.5484 16 17 16.4924 16 17 18 10.28 18
The number of University Senators to be apportioned is 29 The entry to the right is called the standard divisor. The standard divisor is the total number of faculty divided by the number of University Senators to be apportioned 11.37931034 -0.2 The entry to the left is called the Modifier (to the standard divisor) or "d-value". The default value of the Modifier is zero, and a nonzero Modifier will be added to the standard divisor and used in the calculation of the Modified Standard Quotas for each division should the number of University Senators apportioned using a modifier of zero not be equal to the number of seats available. The Modified Standard Quota is the number of faculty in the division (academic unit) divided by the sum of the standard divisor and the Modifier.
Sum over each academic unit 330 The standard divisor indicates the ideal number of faculty that each University Senator represents. Total Number of Faculty 315 330 Sum over each academic unit 29 29.51881555 28 33 N/A 28 29 34   34
Note: The Huntington-Hill Method of Apportionment is used. This method has been used by the United States Congress since 1941.
*Note: A total of 34 Elected Faculty Senators are apportioned: (1) One to each academic unit (division) accounts for five (2) The remaining 29 are apportioned as above.
