Subject: Call for Nominations for At-Large Faculty for the Provost and VPAA
Search Committee
On March 31, 2008, President Leland sent email to the Faculty Alert list
describing both a proposed timeline
and a proposed composition for the search committee for the Provost and Vice
President of Academic Affairs
position. She requested feedback from faculty on each of these matters.
The Search Committee for the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs
will include two faculty members
elected at large by faculty, and the Executive Committee of the
University Senate has been asked to implement
this election. The election process is a call for nominations followed by an
election by secret ballot implemented
by an electronic ballot just as was done for the recent at-large election
for the University Senate.
To begin this process, nominations (including self nominations) should be
sent electronically to Craig Turner,
(craig.turner@gcsu.edu) no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2008.
Each nominee will be contacted and included on a ballot should (s)he
accept the nomination. Each member of the Corps
of Instruction will have the opportunity to vote by secret ballot for two
candidates and that vote will occur Thursday, April 10
and Friday, April 11, 2008. The two individuals who receive the most votes
will be placed on the search committee and their
names will be announced via email no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday April
14, 2008.
