Here's how we allocated in 2003
1. Calculated what percentage of the total SOLAS faculty each department had
(e.g., Art had 6.5%, English had 18.8%, Psychology had 7.8%). I have attached
the spreadsheet I used to calculate these.
2. We had a total of 19 senate seats allocated, so we gave each department the
percentage of Senate seats corresponding to the percentage of SOLAS faculty --
with a lot of rounding.
3. Every department got one two-year senator, except one (Chemistry volunteered
not to have a two-year term).
4. Nominations & balloting were done in departments.
