Curriculum and Assessment Policy Committee
Report to Senate
August 25, 2008
Although CAPC had elected officers during the previous meeting, the resignation of Cynthia Cano necessitated a new election for Secretary. Bill Risch was elected in absentia (with his prior approval).
The members of CAPC agreed to conduct meetings using a modestly informal approach. Conduct will revert to RobertŐs Rules of Order for any debate that requires a more formal approach or when circumstances dictate formality.
The members of CAPC articulated the goals for the committee during the coming academic year to be:
a. The review of new programs and significant programs as described in the CommitteeŐs charge
b. Review the current CORE assessment procedures
c. Develop recommendations for CORE assessment procedures
d. Investigate evidence of academic challenge within the CORE (as suggested from the Senate retreat)
e. Examine best practices of measuring academic challenge (to be applied to assessment of academic challenge in CORE)
The Committee will invite Susan Bello to summarize current core assessment practices.
The committee will next meet in A&S 2-15 on 9/05/2008 at 12:30 pm.
