University Services Committee Report

Given to the University Senate 01-29-07

Submitted by Dr. Ken McGill

1)      Chad McDonald of DTS presented the document for our review.  The committee felt the original document was acceptable with a few minor changes that were accepted by Chad McDonald as friendly amendments.

a.       The original document under the section on the use of purchasing cards stated “GCSU requires the pre-purchase approval of all technology.”.  The committee felt that it would be best to have a dollar limit give the vague nature of what is o is not technology.  The statement was changed to read “GCSU requires the pre-purchase approval of all non-licensed technology above $250.

b.      The original document under the section  RIGHTS & REMEDIES stated “The University reserves the right to amend these conditions and polices at any time without prior notice.”.  The committee wanted to make it clear that the senate must still be consulted and asked for the following changes “The University reserves the right to amend these conditions and polices at any time without prior notice to authorized users.”.

2)      Yves-Rose Saintdic, Director of Institutional Equity presented three documents for our review.

a.       Georgia College & State University Workplace Procedures for Accommodating People with Disabilities & Covered Veterans.  The policy was accepted with only two friendly amendments to remove the names of the contact individuals in the document.  It was felt that no personal names should be a part of university policy.

b.      Georgia College & State University Workplace Procedures for Accommodating Religious Observances.  The policy was accepted with no corrections, but it was made clear that religious accommodations did not include the addition or deletion religious content in course content.

c.       GCSU Policy and Procedures on Sexual Harassment.  The policy was accepted with the friendly amendment to remove the names of the contact individuals in the document.  It was felt that no personal names should be a part of university policy, but that there should be a URL in the document pointing to the names of the contact individuals to make the information readily available.
