Subject: Subcommittee on Nominations
Importance: High

Greetings!

The University Senate’s Subcommittee of Nominations consists of members of the Executive Committee, Standing Committee Chairs, the Staff Council Chair, and the Student Government Association President. At the last ECUS meeting, I was appointed to chair this group.

Please note that this committee has pending business. We must nominate for University Senate consideration (at its September 2009 meeting) an individual to fill the position on the Academic Policy Committee vacated by Beate Czogalla.  Beate has tendered her resignation (see below). Amy Pinney was elected by the Theatre Department to replace Beate Czogalla on the University Senate, and must serve on at least one committee, according to University Senate Bylaws.

Please let me know by the close of business on Wednesday, September 16, if you agree with the nomination of Amy Pinney to replace Beate Czogalla on the Academic Policy Committee. Once I hear from everyone, a motion will be prepared for presentation at the September meeting for Senate approval.

Thank you –

Note: Here is Beate’s resignation letter:

To whom it may concern:

After over 7 years of service on the University Senate I am finally able to hand over my duties to another faculty member. Dr Amy Pinney has fulfilled the required 2 year residency and has agreed to take over for me, in agreement with the Theatre Faculty. Dr Pinney will serve in my place on the Senate as well as the Academic Policy Committee. Please accept this notification of my resignation effective immediately.

Sincerely,

Beate Czogalla

Subject: Theatre Rep for Senate

Dear Ken and Craig,

The Theatre Department is interested in putting Dr. Amy Pinney into the role of Theatre Senate Rep and allowing Prof. Bea Czogalla to step off the Senate and work on other projects. Amy has been at GCSU for two years, though not in a tenure track position until this year. We hope that this will qualify her for stepping into this role. If not, we hope for a special dispensation to allow this. Thanks for your help.

Best, Karen
