Selected Student Senators for 2008-2009 University Senate

Eligibility
The eligibility requirements of students to serve as university senators are identical to those required for membership on the Student Government Association as specified in the most current Student Government Association Bylaws. 
The current eligibility requirements to serve on SGA can be found in the Student Government Association (SGA) Constitution: Article III Section C which states: To be qualified for the Senate, any enrolled student at Georgia College and State University with a grade point average of 2.30 or higher, and in good academic standing, shall be eligible to run for election or be appointed to the Senate.

Procedure (Two Selected Student Senators)
The 2008-2009 SGA President is one of the selected student senators on the University Senate for the 2008-2009 academic year, and shall appoint the other selected student senator. 

Note Regarding Procedures for Students on 2008-2009 University Senate Committees:
As specified in University Senate Bylaws, both of the selected student senators serve on the Student Affairs Policy Committee (SAPC). In addition to these two selected student senators, there are two SGA nominees for committee service: one to serve on the Resources, Planning, and Institutional Policy Committee (RPIPC) and the other to serve on SAPC. The SGA nominees for the 2008-2009 committees will be nominated by the 2008-2009 SGA President, and each must meet the eligibility requirements specified above.

Relevant University Senate Bylaws
II.Section1.A.4.  The two (2) student members are selected for a one year term of service.  The term of service of a student member shall begin with the call to order of the spring organizational meeting of the University Senate and continue until his/her successor assumes office.  The eligibility requirements of students to serve as university senators are identical to those required for membership on the Student Government Association as specified in the most current Student Government Association Bylaws.  The selection process for these members shall be determined by the Student Government Association.  The President of the Student Government Association shall ensure that (1) the eligibility requirements as stated in Student Government Association Bylaws as well as a written description of the selection procedure developed by the Student Government Association is submitted to the Executive Committee no later than December 1 and (2) the selection is implemented according to the procedures with the results reported to the Executive Committee no later than February 1.  These eligibility requirements, procedures and results shall be archived in the appropriate format.  The Executive Committee shall announce the results of these selections no later than February 6.

V.Section2.C.4.a.  The Student Affairs Policy Committee shall have thirteen (13) members distributed as follows:  six (6) members selected from the Corps of Instruction faculty, at least four (4) of which are elected faculty senators, two (2) members that are students serving on the University Senate, one (1) member that is an elected staff senator, one (1) member that is the Vice President of Student Affairs or an individual appointed by the Vice President of Student Affairs to serve as his/her designee, one (1) member that is a staff member nominated by Staff Council, one (1) member that is a student nominated by the Student Government Association, and one (1) member appointed by the University President.

V.Section2.C.5.a. The Resources, Planning, and Institutional Policy Committee shall have thirteen (13) members distributed as follows: six (6) members selected from the Corps of Instruction faculty, at least four (4) of which are elected faculty senators, three (3) members that are elected staff senators, one (1) member that is the Vice President of Business and Finance or an individual appointed by the Vice President of Business and Finance to serve as his/her designee, one (1) member that is a staff member nominated by Staff Council, one (1) member that is a student nominated by the Student Government Association, and one (1) member appointed by the University President.
