On March 31, 2008 the University Senate approved revisions to its bylaws
and these revisions were approved by President Leland that same day.  One
of the revisions was to change the composition of the University Senate by
transforming one of the six Presidential Appointee positions to an at-large
Elected Faculty Senator position.  As indicated in an earlier email (copied
below), this meant that the first alternate from the recent at-large election
would be contacted to determine willingness to serve.

I am delighted to report that Dr. Ken Farr, Chair of the Department of Economics,
has agreed to serve in this at-large Elected Faculty Senator position and will have
a two year term of service beginning with the April 25, 2008 Organizational Meeting
of the 2008-2009 University Senate and ending in April 2010.
