To:  GC&SU Corps of Instruction

From:  Harry Glover, Chair of The Committee on Nominations, University Senate

Subject:  Nominations for At-Large University Senate Position to Replace Dr. Bob Wilson

A replacement is needed for Dr. Bob Wilson on the University Senate.  Accordingly, his vacated University Senate At-Large position must be filled for remainder of his term.  Note that Dr. Wilson’s term ends at the end of the 2004-2005 academic year.

The relevant University Senate Bylaw is:

Article IV, Section 5. Vacancies on the University Senate or its committees that occur between regular elections, other than those that occur on the Committee on Nominations, shall be filled by the Committee on Nominations in the manner originally used to fill the position. Such vacancies shall be reported immediately to the Committee on Nominations by the chair of the committee on which the vacancy occurs. The Executive Committee shall fill vacancies of this nature on the Committee on Nominations.”

To begin this process, nominations will be accepted from members of the University Corps of Instruction.  Nominations should be sent electronically to Monica Wood, in the President’s Office monica.wood@gcsu.edu no later than 4:00 p.m. November 17, 2004.

Each nominee will be contacted and included on a ballot should (s)he accept the nomination.  Each member of the Corps of Instruction will have the opportunity to vote by secret ballot for one candidate, and these votes will be due no later than 4:00 pm on Monday, November 29, 2004.  The candidate receiving the most votes will be elected to serve the remainder of Dr. Wilson’s term.

To be elected, an individual must be a member of the Corps of Instruction and have at least two (2) years of service at GC&SU at the time they take office, in this case, January 1, 2004.  An updated list of the Corps of Instruction faculty is available at http://info.gcsu.edu/intranet/univ_senate/Elections_0506/
