Suggestions to facilitators regarding organizational meetings from Craig Turner:

1.  Organizational meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, 2008 from 12:30 - 1:45.

2.  FYI the 2007-2008 committee chairs are

APC - Jan Clark, CAPC - Deborah Vess, ECUS - Craig Turner,

FAPC  - Todd Shiver, SAPC - Jennifer Hammack, RPIPC - Doug Oetter

3.  You will need to call the meeting, possibly by email .  The email call should be sent AFTER the Friday April 25, 2008 University

Senate meeting at which the slate of nominees is acted on by the incoming (2008-2009) University Senate.  Until then the committee

memberships are NOT official. I will try to post the committee membership lists with email addresses (see link below) as soon as they

     are official.

4.  I would suggest (respectfully) that you consider taking advantage of this opportunity to provide a brief orientation to the University

Senate primarily for the benefit of those individuals that are new to the University Senate or committees. A suggested outline for your

consideration is linked below and entitled "Summary Contextual Information" and is a one page summary.

5.  Suggested detailed handout including tentative agenda (first page) with suggestions on most of the items and likely more detail than you

want is linked below entitled "Tentative Agenda and DRAFT Handout".  Please take this as a set of suggestions that may assist you and

not a required list of things to do.  Feel free to edit this document to suit your preferences and facilitator style.  I strongly urge you to

consider the sample tentative agenda for this organizational meeting on page one.

6.   Reminders about Elections
      a.  Only elected faculty senators are eligible to serve as Chair

      b.  Any committee member may serve as Vice-Chair or Secretary.
      c.  Voting must be by secret ballot (required in bylaws)

      d.  A Template Ballot is offered below entitled "Sample Ballot and Nomination"

7.  A ONE PAGE summary of officer responsibilities is linked below entitled "Standing Committee Officer Responsibilities".

8.  Thank you so much for your willingness to serve as a facilitator for one of these meetings.
